You decide who wins $20,000 and appears in Variety magazine as America’s Favorite Couple
We grew up as next door neighbors and would play basketball together in my driveway. We went through high school as only friends and were voted homecoming king and queen. We both went off to play college basketball, and in 2020 when the gyms shut down we began playing basketball again in my driveway and then started dating our junior year of college.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Spending our first Christmas as a married couple in NYC! I had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia the summer prior and was scheduled to be in the hospital during Christmas for a stem cell transplant, but it got delayed because my donor was sick with COVID. So we turned something that was disappointing into the most incredible trip and Christmas!
What would you do with $20,000?We would use $20,000 for medical expenses as I can’t work due to my cancer. Anything leftover would be saved for fertility treatments once I’m in remission and able to try to have kids! I had my ovary removed and frozen to preserve my eggs. Storing my ovary and having it put back in me after I’m in remission isn’t covered by insurance.
