We met in a college bible study almost 20 years ago and bonded over our shared faith and ministry. Through the course of many bible studies, mission trips, and leadership retreats, we became great friends. But that friendship quietly evolved into love. Raised in deeply religious homes, we tried to suppress our feelings, believing they were wrong. After years of soul-searching, we realized our love was a gift-not a shame. Choosing each other meant choosing truth, grace, and freedom.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our wedding day. After hiding our relationship for years, we stood proudly before our families, with our fathers co-officiating the ceremony and our mothers and sisters by our side. Justin's 94-year-old grandmother traveled hundreds of miles in the pandemic just to celebrate with us. Mykell's legal father, who he hadn't seen in 20 years, was even counted among the guests. It was a day of joy, healing, and true reconciliation.
What would you do with $20,000?We would put the money towards our dream of starting a family. Although adoption and surrogacy are both really expensive paths, $20,000 would be an incredible step towards making our dream a reality.
