Connect How did your love story begin?

Our story started with a casual Tinder swipe. I’d often go back and clean out my matches—Steve almost got the axe (I always say his biceps saved him!). After two years of sporadic messages, we finally went on our first date. With just an hour before closing, we each downed two boots of beer—and somewhere between the laughs and the beer, it was clear: there was an ease and comfort between us that felt totally natural… and definitely worth the wait.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

One of our fav memories is an unplanned 20-hour road trip from my mom’s house in Texas to our apartment in Virginia. After Christmas, a snowstorm delayed our flight for nearly a week—but we had to get home to our kitty! So, we hit the road. What could’ve been a nightmare ended up being one of our best memories: we sang along to our fav songs, talked, played games and made the whole experience feel like just another Tuesday. That trip reminded us how strong we are together—no obstacle too big.

What would you do with $20,000?

If we had $20,000, we’d kick off our dream: a breakfast food truck. Early on, I’d sneak out of Steve’s place in the mornings to walk my dog. He’d always say, “Next time, bring the dog—and I’ll make you breakfast.” I figured it was just a line… until I tasted his breakfast sandwiches and loaded bowls (they’re legendary among his friends and family). In a fast-paced city like D.C., we think his breakfast game is exactly what people need to start their day.
