In his parent’s kitchen. August 4, 1970 was Election Day. His dad ran for State representative and my dad a precinct delegate so, I spent the day at a poll, passing out literature and asking folks to vote for his dad. His Dad invited me to the “victory party” at their house that night. We were 17. We only said hello, he disappeared to the basement and my mom called and told me to come home! He worked hard to find out who I was. Our first date was Sept. 1971.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Married May 18, 1974. Trying to start our family…finally becoming pregnant in 1978. Going to the drive-in to see Close Encounters of the Third Kind and feeling the baby move for the first time! Then heading to the hospital on January 16, 1979 and it started to snow. Son was born at 6:30am…dad went home in the morning and couldn’t find the car after 17” of snow fell overnight!
What would you do with $20,000?It would be a lovely vacation for our family. We have 2 adult children, their spouses and 5 grandchildren-ranging in age from 15-26.
