We met in a valley in Wales when Jamie was a student studying abroad from SD. I fell in love with her strolling under a bridge on a rainy day when she said hello to a stranger walking past us. That openness opened up a world adventure. Six weeks later she left the country. We said ‘I love you’ for the first time as she left, and then the rest of the story started.

So much of our journey has been based around travel, and as that is how we started it’s something we’ve continued to do as much as possible ever since. It has led to some of our favorite memories, sometimes extravagant like standing on top of the Eiffel Tower, and others simpler, like driving through a midnight storm in SD. But I think for us it always comes down to a mattress on a rooftop, listening to a mixtape, looking at the stars, and thinking what those airplanes would mean for our future.

We have never had the thought of such money. Between us we run a small bookstore and work other jobs and make it by week by week, month to month. But that kind of money we could put much of it into the business, which is an all inclusive community space that hosts all kinds of art, music, and poetry in a town where there aren’t many spaces for that. And maybe a trip to Wales, and see the old house where we met.
