Our love story began with shared passions—’80s movies, musicals, and long conversations. Caroline, a community theater actress, charmed Rod with her theatrical energy, even quoting Avenue Q on their first date. Over dinner at Columbia's oldest Italian restaurant, they lost track of time talking about Sutton Foster, math videos, and octopuses. When the restaurant closed around them, they realized something rare had just begun.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Rod proposed on a real Broadway stage! Knowing Caroline’s love of theatre, he planned a trip to NYC to see her favorite actress perform and secretly arranged a private tour of the Hudson Theatre. With tenacity (and a little luck), he got permission for them to step onto the stage—where he dropped to one knee. Caroline expected the proposal, but the setting left her speechless. It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment, made just for her. Broadway has become “our thing” ever since.
What would you do with $20,000?We’d pay off remaining wedding expenses, then travel to Brazil so Caroline can finally meet Rod’s family. Rod was born and raised in Brazil but hasn’t seen his extended family in years since they couldn’t attend the wedding. We’d reunite his mom with siblings she hasn’t seen in years and introduce Caroline to the country, culture, and people who helped shape the man she married.
