Our love story began when I came home from Navy flight school for Christmas break. On my flight, I watched his hockey game-he’d played terribly and had no idea I was watching. That night, he went to grab In-N-Out after the loss, and somehow I ended up in his car, sharing double-doubles across the console. Then he looked me in the eye, and in that quiet moment, we both just knew. The next day he was at my family Christmas.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our favorite memory is when Nikolai came to NAS Pensacola for Clarabelle’s promotion to lieutenant junior grade. A Russian foreign national pinning silver bars on his Navy officer wife—it was surreal. From roasts by Navy pilots at the O-Club to bonding at the after-party, we both realized that no matter the uniform, friendship and team spirit feel the same in hockey and the military.
What would you do with $20,000?We’d love support veteran and youth mentorship programs that have shaped our lives. From the military to professional sports, we’ve seen the impact of strong role models. Investing in the next generation, and honoring the last means everything to us. It’s not just about giving back; it’s about paying it forward with purpose.
