Neither of us were from Alaska, but that is where we met, adventuring far from our childhood homes to attend college. In the summer he worked on a remote salmon weir and said “You can write to me if you’re bored.” So we wrote letters for three months and had become something more than friends by the time he returned.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?We’ve been married for 17 years and there is no favorite memory. The things we remember most are the small day to day joys. Watching our kids become little humans. Cheering each other on as we grow in our careers. Learning to travel as a family. Laughing together. Each day has high and lows and we do our best to hold onto the good moments.
What would you do with $20,000?We have no imaginative goals for this money. We’d just pay bills and feel a little less stressed.
