Our love story began in 1995 with sarcasm, not sparks— a bold guy named David, and a very uninterested sassy girl named Arlene. Arlene had no interest at first, but David’s persistence eventually wore her down. Arlene had a boyfriend and found herself between two guys. One chaotic moment led to the boldest move: David asking her to make a choice. That night, she chose him. It wasn’t perfect, but it was real. Love didn’t tiptoe in—it crashed in and never left. Here we stand almost 30 years later.

Our favorite memory isn’t just one—it’s a lifetime of serving side by side. Since saying “I do,” we’ve built a life grounded in faith, community, love and giving back. From infertility, to taking in homeless youth into our home to launching new Day, Dignity and Nourishment Centers, for those struggling with hunger and homelessness. Every challenge and victory has become a chapter in our story. Through it all, we’ve chosen to serve together, hand in hand, for something greater than ourselves.

With $20,000, we would invest toward the building of our forever home—a haven where we can continue coaching couples and future nonprofit leaders, like ourselves. It will be more than a place to live; it's a sacred space where we will be using our story, our home, and our hearts to equip, encourage, and empower couples, leaders, and communities to thrive in their purpose. Side by side, we will grow, lead, and love well—for a lifetime—helping others become the best version of themselves.
