My best friend of 25 years-who was tragically killed less than a year later—dragged me out that night. I didn’t feel like going, but she insisted on one last stop. At the bar, a guy stopped me on my way to the bathroom and said, “I need to tell you something!” I said “I have to use the restroom you’ll have to wait.” I wasn’t planning to go back—but something about him stuck. I returned. He smiled and said, “You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.” Our souls met and we were captivated.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?The first summer we were dating, I spent 19 nights in the hospital after a terrible crash. He stayed for 17 as we lived 3 hours apart. He curled up beside me in that tiny bed, held my hand through the pain, he helped me get on the bed pan, brought flowers, takeout, and love. He made that cold room feel like home. He was my comfort, my cheerleader, my peace in the chaos. Through every tear and wince, he never wavered. I knew then without a doubt that we were forever. I love us.
What would you do with $20,000?We’d share it with my sister and mom first, to thank them for their love and support. Then, we’d take a trip—just the two of us—to celebrate this incredible blessing. We would give our son some for a truck. He is kind, thoughtful and gets what matters. Love is meant to be shared and multiplied. We are truly lucky, and every act of giving would remind us how grateful we are to have found each other. The day we met we hit the love lottery and are grateful beyond words.
