We're Jazz Musicians and fell in love while playing music in the '90s - we have produced many concerts & continue to play music together!
We would like to thank you for supporting Teri Roiger and John Menegon in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
Our love story began when we were both hired to play a gig in the Hudson Valley and John picked me up. He put on a cassette recording of legendary jazz vocalist Betty Carter and Ray Charles, and we had an instant connection. We then started talking about the jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk and how much we loved his music. It wasn't long after that we recorded an album featuring some of Monk's music called MISTERIOSO with jazz legends Kenny Burrell and Jack DeJohnette!
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Most recently, attending the Bergamo Jazz Festival (Italy) in March 2024 where we heard and met many musicians, jazz journalists, promoters and jazz lovers! We had an amazing week meeting so many people and visiting this beautiful City in Italy and also traveled to Treviso, where John's grandparents were born. Exploring this region of Italy by car was an amazing experience we'll never forget, and we can't wait to go back!
What would you do with $20,000?We would continue to produce and promote local musicians in New York's Hudson Valley to further educate and bring the community together through the healing power of music.
