Connect How did your love story begin?

Our story began with a computer from the dinosaur age, a cowboy hat and 100 miles between us! We were both online dating and were on a dating site specifically for people with disabilities. The hope was to connect with people to just combat the loneliness and struggles of dating with a disability and the idea of trying to find a person who truly understands, identifies with it and is open to navigating the complexities of being disabled. Well, the rest is history!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

On our first date, he told me to wear comfy shoes. In typical girly fashion, I didn’t listen. I wore these little high heels. I was at the restaurant with him. I started walking across the floor. I always ask now who puts olive oil on floors? Anywho, during my stroll, it landed me kissing the wood planks that were splattered beneath me during my slip and slide moment. Quite an impressive first experience and one story that is always on repeat!

What would you do with $20,000?

Our mobility needs are changing as we age. Now, we need a wheelchair accessible bathroom. We live in a co-op built in the 60s and it’s getting harder to navigate using it. We would really use the money to remodel the bathroom to live a more accessible life together in our home.
