Bill had just returned from his second Marine Corps deployment to Iraq when his friend, dating my roommate, set us up. It was love at first sight, but our Coast Guard and Marine careers pulled us in different directions. Two and a half years later, fate—and a calendar contest Bill entered—brought us back together. Once we reconnected, we knew it was meant to be. We made it through a year of long distance and haven’t looked back since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?In over 15 years together, we’ve shared countless memories. As a military couple, we’ve navigated major life changes and many moves. Bill might say his favorite moment was helping deliver our son; though our experiences differed, I’d agree. While parenthood has deeply enriched our lives, I still cherish the early days: spontaneous adventures, quiet weekends, and just being us with our dogs. Those moments built the foundation for everything we’ve become.
What would you do with $20,000?Bill just lost his job to federal layoffs. We decided to make lemonade out of lemons and use this year to travel the country in an RV with our sons and homeschool. We will use that money to cover some of those costs.
