We met in 2010 as music majors. After Kate left an emotionally abusive relationship, fate had us literally bump into each other in a hallway between classes. Sparks flew, and by May 2011 we were official. We built our love for 3 years before creating music as indie pop duo Tart Vandelay, touring the Northeast and Canada. In 2022, we married in Rochester, NY, then embarked on our “Honey-Move,” a magical California coast road trip that launched our new chapter in Los Angeles.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our favorite memory is definitely our “Honey-Move.” After marrying in NY, we packed up our lives in Arizona and drove to LA. Even when we got a flat tire and discovered our storage unit was too small, everything worked out perfectly—we found an extra space and kept our hearts open. Then we road-tripped up and down the California coast, saw Redwoods and the Golden Gate, and shared magical memories that we will cherish forever. Best of all, the "Honey-Move" ended with our new life in LA together.
What would you do with $20,000?We’d finally fund our debut album, Odyssey—14 years in the making! The $20,000 would cover studio time, music videos, and a marketing campaign to share our story with the world. Every song captures a chapter of our journey as a couple and a band. From college hallways to touring and marrying, this album celebrates love, resilience, and dreams coming true. Winning would help us inspire others to believe in their own odyssey.
