How did your love story begin?

A mutual friend introduced us at college and we were both immediately attracted to each other. We lost touch for a few busy years, and then reconnected at a time when both of us were experiencing tremendously difficult life circumstances: Taelor's mother was dying of a terminal cancer diagnosis. Tyler was undergoing chemo treatments for a cancer diagnosis of his own. We shared each other’s sorrows and difficulties, and found joy and comfort in one another's company. We still do.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We moved from Idaho to Iowa for a summer internship. We packed all of our things in our truck and headed east. We decided to take a detour through Yellowstone National Park. There was a freak snow storm (it was mid May), almost hit a bison on the road, and we almost ran out of gas! Everything went wrong. But we often look back on that trip fondly because we were still having fun! And at the end of the day we were just glad we got through it together.

What would you do with $20,000?

Tyler has a dream of opening a "community shop" where he and other volunteers can help members of our community fix broken vehicles for free, or extremely low cost. It would be a place where people could learn skills in mechanics and general car maintenance, and be a much needed resource for our community.
