Connect How did your love story begin?

We met at birth—literally. Or Steph was 4 days old. The first and last time she was early to anything. Our moms were pregnant at the same time, gave birth days apart in a Chicago hospital, and our families stayed lifelong friends. Despite living in different states, we always stayed in touch through phone calls, AIM (shoutout to SweetLilAngl14), and visits. Years later, a goofy airport reunion with Chiefs balloons turned into forever. Our love took the long way, but it was always meant to be.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

We got engaged in Greece! But 24 hours before we left, my fiancé misplaced the ring (his word, not mine), he came clean to me, and it was the thought that counted. In Athens, he said, “Babe, let’s get you a new one.” We found a charming market and met George, a jeweler of 39 years who fed us olives from his own tree and treated us like family. It was perfect. Then, three days after we got home… I found the original ring hiding in the file cabinet. (Filed under D for dummy 😅). Classic Aaron.

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000, we’d finally put a down payment on our first home—a dream we’ve been working toward together. We’ve weathered a lot as a couple, as most do. There’s been a lot of life happenings and changes. This would help us turn a tough chapter into a fresh start, building a home filled with love, laughter, and the occasional misplaced engagement ring. Couldn’t imagine a better wedding gift other than finally marrying my best friend!
