Connect How did your love story begin?

Our love story began in the magic of theatre! Martin directed me in the play Harvey our sophomore year of college. I was the lead, he was the director, the rest was history. Was there drama at first because I was dating someone else also in the show and we broke up 2 weeks into rehearsal? Yes, but all good love stories need a little drama to start! We dated through the rest of our college time and then asked – what next? My dreams were taking me to LA, and he was down for the adventure.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is when Martin proposed. We’re both very close with our families and friends, and he knows I love a performance, so he coordinated a scavenger hunt (spots from our time dating in Austin and on campus) leading to a dance and performance including all of our families and closest friends. What would you do with $20,000?

The next big step in our love story is buying a house! We’re in LA so it’s hard to find areas where we can afford a home. Martin is a theatre teacher (newly awarded Teacher of the Year for LAUSD!) and I’m an actor also working day jobs as a substitute teacher and coordinator for a tech company, so building up our savings here has been a challenge. This $20,000 could go towards a down payment on a house and give us the chance to finally be homeowners, and start our family in that home!
