2016 - In high school, after tough breakups, we exchanged numbers to support each other; starting as friends who just needed someone. Late-night texts and video calls slowly turned into in-person moments, forming our bond more and becoming inseparable. After a year or so, we started dating, and we were both thrilled to be with someone who truly felt like a best friend. What began as quiet support blossomed into a genuine love that is deep and unwavering.

2024 - During our honeymoon parasailing in Catalina, we found a moment of peace within our chaos. After facing the immense loss on Alexis' side, and the unknown road ahead of us, soaring high let us escape and see life’s troubles as small for a moment. In that, we realized no matter how big the challenges, no matter the weight of them, that we can face anything together, side by side, as best friends and partners. It was reassurance that together we can face anything thrown at us.

If given this opportunity, we'd use the prize in different ways. We'd ease some of Alexis's car debt, take a much-needed family getaway to reconnect and recharge, and the rest will go towards our future home & the wellbeing of her younger siblings—as we became their guardians after their parents passed last year.
