Connect How did your love story begin?

We’re both nurses and spent one shift with neighboring patients. We spent the entire day helping clean up each other’s patients (health care peeps-IYKYK). I thought Travis was cute so I hinted that I had no ride home and wondered aloud how I would get home, just to see what would happen. Travis, being a gentleman, immediately offered me a ride. That night he added me on Facebook and sent me pictures of his puppy. I gave him my number and invited myself over the next day. The rest is history!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Very early in our relationship, we established we both love the band, Queen. One night we were walking home from dinner and got caught in a classic DC summer rainstorm. Instead of running for cover like any sane person would do, I began dancing in the street and singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ at the top of my lungs. Trav took one look at me and joined right in. We’ve shared many dances since then, most recently at our wedding, but this first one will always be the most special to us!

What would you do with $20,000?

Life is expensive, especially where we live in Washington, DC. We both separately came to and fell in love with DC and want to put some roots down in our favorite city. This prize money would be life changing as a down payment on a dream house here. We want to create the kind of home that’s always open for visitors: there’s champagne in the fridge to celebrate a promotion, tea in the pantry for when something’s wrong, and always homemade chocolate chip cookies in the oven. A home built on love!
