Connect How did your love story begin?

We might be the first successful love story from Facebook dating. Our first week consisted of several hours-long phone conversations before we finally met up in real-life for dinner. The entire evening, much like our relationship - was filled with laughter, genuine interest in the other person and warmth. For the entire first year of our relationship, we’ve been long distance between Dallas and Austin, TX - but our connection has made that distance a part of our story and not a barrier.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Kevin: She had brought so much color and joy into my life. So, as an illustrator, I wanted to draw her. But I wanted it to be a little more special. I took the artwork I had made, a piece depicting her and her dog Sully shaking hands, and cut it into 15 square pieces. I would only give her 1 piece at a time, either in person or in the mail over a month or so. Letting her assemble the picture would be fun in between visits. Sarah: It was the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me!

What would you do with $20,000?

Besides the very responsible “adult” answer of tending to debt, we’d use some of the money to plan a trip and/or experience for our entire blended family. As a couple, we’ve spent so much time traveling to one another - that we haven’t explored traveling together, somewhere else. Our relationship is incredibly important to us and we’re so glad to have found each other. We often talk about the experiences we have shared so far and look forward to creating many more.
