Connect How did your love story begin?

We met through a community we both have a passion for- theater. Nathan was directing a production of RENT, and Ricky was in the ensemble. At a party celebrating the success of our run, we both decided to meet for dinner and drinks to get to know each other. 15 years later, we are still getting to know each other over cocktails (and shows!)

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

2015 presented a number of challenges for us. Ricky was reeling from the loss of his father the prior year, and Nathan spent nearly a month in the hospital after learning of his pending heart transplant. When we finally got the chance to take a break, we booked a mini cabin in upstate NY to decompress. The chance to have time to ourselves, in such a quiet, peaceful environment was just what we needed. It reminded us how important these moments of quiet and rest are during times of resilience! <3

What would you do with $20,000?

Last summer, Nathan received both a heart and kidney transplant. The process was more difficult than expected- spending time on life support, which has effected his mobility, with Nathan having to use a wheelchair on the road to recover. With $20,000, we will be able to continue to make our house more wheelchair accessible, and continue to make our house into a home. ...and maybe use some of the funds to celebrate Nathan's Heart-aversary later this year with a vacation <3
