Connect How did your love story begin?

It was 1992. I was singing at a nightclub in Lake Jackson, Texas, wearing red spandex. Tommy’s best friend told him there was a hot girl who wanted to meet him—totally made up, but it got him there. He sat down by his buddy, and I walked off stage, right into his lap, and sang “Crazy” to him. It was a bold move that became an omen of the trajectory of our lives. Decades later, we’re still crazy… crazy enough to turn a cattle ranch into a sanctuary and rewrite history for the animals.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory as a couple was the day we were told an anonymous donor was giving us $250,000 to keep Rowdy Girl Sanctuary going. I was fundraising nonstop, and Tommy was using his retirement to help—but it still wasn’t enough. We were on the brink. Then came the miracle—we cried, we hugged, and we bought tractors and hired staff. It wasn’t just money—it was validation. A sign that others believed in us, and in the mission to save farm animals.

What would you do with $20,000?

If we win, I’d donate the $20,000 prize to Rowdy Girl Sanctuary to help buy a hydraulic squeeze chute. It’s a key piece of equipment we need to safely care for our aging and special needs cows. We’re in Phase 3 of building our Medical Treatment Facility, and this will help us give the kind of hands-on, loving care they deserve. We are building a standard of vet care for the future where farm animals are treated like family.
