Connect How did your love story begin?

We first met at a clothing store.the shop was his client. 2 of us were working that day.He thought both of us were pretty good options. Brought us both butterfinger bars but thankfully she was dating someone. He thought I was married but I wasn’t. I later saw him at the fair. I was working in radio. I stood on a chair and yelled “ cable guy!” From that day on we were inseparable. He was my War Veteran. He met my 2 yr old and raised her as his own. We later adopted. It’s been over 30 years

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Most of those are from our 12+ yrs working in our Soup kitchen together and doing street outreach. That is where we met our other 2 children. But laughing every day with all of our goofy ways we cherish. We are Doug & Carrie from King of Queens!

What would you do with $20,000?

Get us resettled in a house. My husband was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s,(59) struggled since 2017most likely caused by chemical exposure in the war. When he retired early it took about 5 years to get our military benefits in place. We lost everything. Sold our family home. Replacing that so we have a place for us,kids & grandkids. I want my husband to be in a home he knows he helped provide for again. Restore his pride and dignity for a life he worked hard for all those years.
