Our collective differences and excepting each other in spite of these differences . We understand that we love differently.
We would like to thank you for supporting Peter and Kathleen Mcloyd in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
It began in 2000 when I had a scheduled job interview. I went to the desk and asked the gentleman for directions.I was like wow, he’s soo handsome. I got the job as a nurse, and we became friends working in the HIV/AIDS clinic in Chicago. Unbeknownst to me, he had told the officier, who was sitting at the desk, that he was going to marry me.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? As friends we went to Kenya in February 2004. Our goal, along with others, was to assist with digging a well, repairing roofs, and teach the villagers how to operate a large industrial oven that was donated. The goal was to teach the villagers how to use the oven to make bread to eat, to sell, and then pass it along to other villages to use. I knew Peter from work and fell in love with him in Africa. In April we were engaged, in June married. We went back in 2005 and had another ceremony.
What would you do with $20,000?We want to take a vacation somewhere close to home. We’re very family oriented, so we’d share with family, give offerings to the church, and pay some bills. We’re an older couple who married late in life and we don’t require a lot.
