How did your love story begin?

Our love story began in the rugged beauty of Jackson Hole in the late ’80s, where we both landed after college. Originally from the South, we were drawn west by adventure. Working in the restaurant scene, we were introduced through Pat’s brother, who still says to this day that when he met Missy, he’d never encounter anyone so kind. Soon after we started dating, someone tipped us off about a tiny ski town in Montana where we spent the rest of our lives.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

All of our favorite memories are tucked up into our restaurant Tupelo. When we moved to Montana, we bought a little rundown building in town and opened what started as a sandwich shop called Tupelo. Pat ran the kitchen; Missy ran the front. Together, we built a space that over time, transformed into a beloved New Orleans-style fine dining spot that we owned for 30 years. We got to see all of our kids work there and share years of memories. The sale of Tupelo secured our and our kids future.

What would you do with $20,000?

We’d use the $20,000 to help our son and his girlfriend open their first restaurant. They’re moving back to Whitefish this year and have long dreamed of building something of their own, just like we once did. Supporting them feels like the most meaningful way to pass the torch, invest in the town we love, and keep the spirit of hospitality alive in the next generation.
