We met in 1998 while Emily was volunteering at a hospital where Paco was a patient. Despite Paco's shyness, we became great friends - exchanging funny emails and calling each other silly names. After Paco married his first wife in 2000 (Emily was a guest at the wedding), we lost touch. In 2009, after ending painful relationships, we reconnected and comforted one other through calls and emails. To our surprise, we eventually fell in love, moved in together in 2011, and married in 2014!

In January 2014, just two weeks before our trip to Paris, we decided to get engaged there. But we didn't have a ring! Convinced we'd find it in Paris, we spent much of the trip visiting antique jewelry stores looking for our ring. The day before our flight home, an hour before the last store on our list closed, we finally found it! A sapphire and diamond "toi et moi" ring. Paco proposed that night. They later learned their "engagiversary" is the same day as Emily's grandparents' anniversary!

We'd go on the honeymoon we never had - likely at a healing spa or retreat center where we can focus on each other, ourselves, and deepening the love, safety, and joy in our relationship. :)
