We were high school sweethearts preparing for our future together. Although the accident was tragic, this made our love grow even stronger.
We would like to thank you for supporting Mr & Mrs Criales in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We remember it like it was yesterday: one day in high school, he held the door for me. I said, “What’s up, bro?” and he smiled, replying, “Hola, mi amor.” That moment changed everything. 14 years ago we laughed at love, swearing it wasn’t for us. We played matchmaker, never guessing we were meant for each other. He was the only man that ever told me he loved my big, curly hair; that’s when I knew he had my heart. We became not only best friends but something more.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? Our wedding on December 10, 2022, was the most meaningful day—seven years after his traumatic brain injury from a drunk driver. He had to relearn everything, and together we overcame unimaginable obstacles. Standing at the altar that day was the fulfillment of a 7-year dream, a testament to our love and perseverance.
What would you do with $20,000?With $20,000, I’d save toward our dream home—a safe, loving space to start our family. It would also allow us to equip the house with the therapy tools my husband needs to stay comfortable and keep progressing. This money would bring us closer to stability, healing, and growth, making our everyday life fuller and more hopeful. It’s about building a future where love and care are at the center of everything we do.
