We met at a college party over a fiery Spades game. My friend and this handsome, stubborn guy (Jon) nearly came to blows over the rules. I stepped in to keep the peace, and he circled back later to thank me which I was pleasingly shocked by. A mutual friend gave him my number “for a project” and I was sure he’d never text me. Well, he did & that project turned into a marriage, three kids and our love story, praise The Lord!

Six months into marriage, broke and in a hard season during lockdown, we found out we were pregnant years before planned. Because of protocol, we didnt see her until 16 weeks. Then - fully formed, kicking - there she was on ultrasound. Jon hadn’t even wanted to come because of how tense we'd been together but when she appeared, he wept. No words, just awe. We’d use the money to help cover legal fees and counseling after a long custody battle. Jon’s son was parentally kidnapped by his birth mom last December, and we just got him back this June. It’s been a tough road emotionally and financially, and we’re working hard to rebuild stability for him and our family. This would be a huge step toward healing and moving forward.
