Connect How did your love story begin?

I was 13 when I met Bobby at a campground where he had taken a summer job as a security guard at age 21. He quickly became my protector, kept me out of trouble that summer, and was someone I trusted completely. Over the years, we drifted apart and reconnected a few times—until 30 years later, life brought us back together for good. That childhood crush, built on safety and trust, turned into a lifelong love that finally found its moment.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory is our second first kiss—30 years after the first. When I was 18, our original kiss was so intense it scared me, and he backed off. That moment stayed seared in both of our memories for decades. When we reconnected, we talked about it, joked that I’d lead next time—but the moment we saw each other again, he kissed me with the same intensity. It was like time had stood still. That kiss sealed what had been waiting to happen all those years.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would invest the $20,000 into our nonprofit, Big Dreams Through Small Steps, to support children and families. We connect those in need with essential services and run our own initiatives, including drowning prevention, providing medical equipment, supporting small business development, and sharing local stories through community news. This funding would help expand our reach and deepen our impact where it’s needed most.
