Connect How did your love story begin?

We were set up by friends who invited us to a bbq. We’d both gone through divorces a few years prior. I was happy to be single for the rest of eternity but as soon as Matt walked through the door and gave his big charming sideways smile, I was done for. We went on our first date the next night and never parted since.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

The first time we took our blended family of 2 daughters and 2 dogs on a family trip, I’d booked a “rustic” airb&b. When we arrived the place was more dilapidated than rustic. The girls were arguing who’d have to sleep in the “haunted bedroom”. So I frantically searched for a hotel that would accept our dogs and we discovered a little beach town close by. It was absolutely magic and has been our special vacation spot every year. The girls scream excitedly from the backseat every time we go.

What would you do with $20,000?

Matt’s love language is cooking for his girls. From when we first started dating and making meals in my little apartment to when my daughter and I moved into his townhome and we squished together making dinner and school lunches in the tiny 1980s kitchen, he has whipped up the most comforting food for us. After 5 years of us all living on top of one another in a 900sq ft condo, we just bought a home with more space and I’d love to give him the kitchen of his dreams with the winnings.
