We actually met for the first time during an interview! I was leaving the organization, and Fernando didn't end up working there, but it led to us connecting via LinkedIn and grabbing "coffee" months later when we decided to have an "informational interview" together. Fernando had years of experience within an industry and area I was starting a new leadership role in so my friends convinced me to connect and network with him. Fernando was very smooth and arranged for us to meet up in Brooklyn.

Early in our relationship we flew together with Fernando's family (mom and grandma) to a very small island where his grandmother was born (less than 2k people). We landed on the smallest runway in the world and they didn't tell me before we boarded the plane. Although I was terrified once we landed, I was so thankful we did and for the beautiful experience together of visiting her first home/community. Sadly, we lost his grandma at 95 years old this year so it's a memory I will always cherish.

We had our first child in January, and it has been a really difficult journey getting to this moment (unfortunately, filled with loss). Now that our son is here we would love to be able to buy our first home and have more support for his childcare and future. This money could be a down payment for us, and would mean the world to our family. We are so thankful to be a trio now and want to give him a wonderful home to grow and thrive.
