In pursuit of voice degrees at the University of Kansas, we collaborated on several operas & musicals. 2 years pass and we were cast as love interests in Sweeney Todd as Johanna & Anthony. We discovered a natural chemistry between us. Everything flowed so easily and improv felt like we weren’t acting at all. After many laughs at rehearsals, dancing, singing, sharing our first kiss on stage, we finally admitted to one another that we both longed to continue the romance off stage.

There are moments between couples where the atmosphere feels ethereal. Sometimes late at night in our little apartment, Colin’s arms will wrap around me while we’re sat at the piano. He plays random chords and I hum along as we slowly drift off a melody and create something new. Milo (our cat) curls his tail around my ankles and sits there with us listening. Eventually the room falls silent and starring into each other’s eyes we are transported back to being on stage together for our first kiss.

A city girl from St. Louis MO who loves to sing moved to Lawrence KS and met a small town boy who loves to sing too. We share the same dream. To spread joy & kindness through our voices. Colin and I work multiple part-time jobs just to pay the bills and struggle to have much left over. This would give us a chance to finally seek out professional opportunities in opera, musical theatre, oratorio, jazz, etc, beyond our roots. And just maybe Colin could save a small portion for a ring too!
