Connect How did your love story begin?

We met online. We lived an hour away from each other, but we made it work. Between him working as an EMT and me finishing my education degree by student teaching and working part time, we didn’t have much time to spare. We used to love Saturdays, because that was the day we saved for each other. Every week, one of us would make the drive to see the other, usually with great plans ahead: museums, art galleries, zoos, aquariums, crafting, or just lounging days full of movies.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Right now, my favorite memory as a couple, and a huge testament to our relationship, is the day we found out I was pregnant. I had just gotten hurt at work, so not feeling well didn’t seem abnormal. I up and decided to take a pregnancy test and it was positive. I was in shock- we hadn’t been planning. It just didn’t fit the timeline in my head. But Luke was stoked. His love for me and his excitement set the tone and put me at ease. He’s been my calm in this journey ever since.

What would you do with $20,000?

With that much money, Luke and I could afford to prepare for and take the proper time off in January when our little one arrives. He is currently getting his paramedic certification and working 2 part time jobs in EMS while I teach inner city middle school. As rewarding as our jobs are, the pay is not spectacular as we are both young adults in our fields. Having the peace of mind to comfortably prepare for and spend time with our little one once they arrive would be priceless.
