We met in first grade and grew up together. At 14 we started dating and our love never stopped. We will be getting married next year!
We would like to thank you for supporting Lauren and John in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We grew up in the same town, on the same 1st grade soccer team. We were friends, until one day we were more than that. I had my 14th birthday party and of course John came and we had a really fun night. The next morning I opened up cards from friends and John’s card asked “Will you be my girlfriend?”. I panicked wondering if this would damage our friendship I cherished so much. After talking to my parents about my concerns, I texted John saying “yes”. I’ve been his girlfriend for 17 years now!
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? Our favorite memory together was celebrating our 15th anniversary. That was the day we had officially loved each other for more than half our lifetimes. It’s hard to think about a time before we started dating, but to know we have been together longer than not, we felt stronger than ever. We evolved separately as people but with the best intentions for our relationship. We went to college 8 hours apart, gone through challenging career moves, adopting animals, and the loss of a parent.
What would you do with $20,000?After waiting so long to finally get married, we feel so fortunate to have all the people in our life who championed us along the way. We want to have the best wedding thanking everyone for always believing in our love.
