Connect How did your love story begin?

Felisity and I met like most modern lesbians: online. But we had some invisible string moments where we could’ve met dozens of times before. The first time I saw her, it felt like time came to a halt. I called my best friend after our first date and declared, “I’ve either gone certifiably insane, or I just met my wife.” 55 days later, we eloped at the courthouse and I proudly took her last name. We will celebrate 10 years this August.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

I had a hysterectomy at 20 years old due to serious health issues, and knew I’d always wanted to adopt. When Felisity and I started talking about building our family, adoption made the most sense for us. We became registered foster parents and in June of 2018, we went from no kids to two babies under a year old. Since then, we’ve adopted all four of our sons, now ages 7, 6, 4 and the baby will be 3 in August. Getting the first call that our son had been born is a moment I’ll never forget.

What would you do with $20,000?

My mom is my best friend and unfortunately suffered a massive and unexpected stroke in April of this year. Although she is doing very well, her life will be permanently altered. She is the only grandmother our boys have. We’d like to spend this money making our backyard and our home an ADA sanctuary where we can spend time as a family, without fear of my mom tripping or falling.
