Connect How did your love story begin?

We met in 2011 at a Young the Giant concert in Vancouver through mutual friends, and then I discovered he was my roommate's cousin! He began "visiting" his cousin more often and eventually asked me on a date. Knowing I loved soccer, he surprised me with tickets to the US vs. Canada women's match. I was decked out in gear, while he looked sharp for a semi-fancy date. Afterwards, I thought he wouldn't ask me out again. To my surprise, he did, even after Canadian fans threw nachos at me!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

In 2019, David graduated with his Master's degree from a rigorous architecture program. I had worked hard throughout those 7 years to provide for us so he could focus solely on his studies. We lived in cheap apartments and were careful with our limited finances. To celebrate our achievements, we decided to take our first transcontinental trip together. We spent two glorious weeks traveling around Central Europe. After all our hard work, it was the perfect way to begin a new chapter of life!

What would you do with $20,000?

We are currently in the process of a special needs adoption. The costs for special needs adoptions range from $40,000 to $50,000. If we win the money, it will go towards bringing our son home and ensuring he receives the best medical care possible. Additionally, we could use some of the funds to renovate our kitchen. We purchased an old house, and unfortunately, the appliances do not fully work. Our goal is to restore our kitchen to full functionality.
