We met at church on base in 29 Palms while serving in the Marine Corps. Both in the choir, I didn’t know Kevin had noticed me. After service, we joined friends for Sunday dinner. The ladies in the kitchen asked who I was going to the ball with, I said I wasn’t going. Meanwhile, the guys asked Kevin the same he had no date either. Our friends set us up. Kevin was in full dress blues, and the girls helped me get a gown and all the glam. We went to the ball and we’ve been together ever since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?One of my favorite memories is our very first date. That night was the beginning of us, full of laughter, nerves, and sparks we didn’t see coming. We’ve built a life since then, but that first date will always be my favorite beginning.
What would you do with $20,000?Last year’s hurricane season caused damage to our home that we haven’t been able to fully repair. Receiving $20,000 would mean so much it would allow us to complete much-needed repairs to create a safe, stable space for my family. I care for my elderly mother full-time, and this is where we gather, heal, and grow together. This help would not just restore walls it would restore peace, comfort, and security in the place we call home.
