We met on Bumble! I knew quickly he was going to be trouble, because we spent hours on the phone daily. I feared falling for him so I had turned him down the first two times he asked me out! That changed one night on the phone. I was falling asleep while talking, but too stubborn to hang up. I accidentally fell asleep, when I woke up a few hours later Diego was still on the phone snoring. Something about that seemed so vulnerable to me. It was the reason I said yes the next time he asked me out.

The month of our wedding we decided to go camping to get away from all the stress. We left at about 9 on a friday night and spent over an hour trying to find our spot without any cell service. We set our tent up in the dark with bad wind, Diego was chased down by bees the next day, and we forgot to bring any plates or cups for our food and drinks. But we spent almost the entire weekend talking and reminiscing, and existing in each other's presence without distraction. We were all we needed.

We both grew up with money as a limited resource. But it taught us that happiness wasn't tied to the things you owned or how much money you had in the bank. The love of your family outweighed that all. We are newlyweds who moved to a whole new state a month after our wedding. Winning this money isn't going to change the love or joy we have in one another, but it would mean financial security in starting the family we once weren't sure we'd get to have.
