We met in grammar school, survived college together, Vietnam and him dying and being brought back to life. Celebrating 62 years of marriage!
You decide who wins $20,000 and appears in Variety magazine as America’s Favorite Couple
In grammar school. He moved from Tennessee and took up a paper route in my neighborhood, throwing papers at 5 o’clock in the morning, whistling “High and Mighty” to the top of his lungs, waking us all, with his joyous outlook on life. I noticed him, of course, but really didn’t began to care for him seriously until I was about 15. However, he did ask me to marry him on the playground when he was 14 and I was 13. He never gave up! His pursuit was endless! We started going “steady” in H.S.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? Our favorite shared memory would have to be the day he returned from Vietnam! He left when our baby was only 5 weeks old! When he returned, she was 13 months old, walking and talking. We had not seen or talked to each other during that entire time. There was no FaceTime or email back then, only snail mail. Imagine our reunion!
What would you do with $20,000?We have three successful daughters and ten successful grandchildren of whom we are so proud. We have had a wonderful married life together now for 62 years and have been able to travel, which we love to do! We would probably take one last trip together somewhere special since we are now 83!
