Katrina and Jisung

Despite the distance and challenges, we always make time for each other, support one another’s goals, and grow stronger as partners.

How did your love story begin?

We met during our final year of high school on a studying server—a tough time of transition. For 10 months, we were close friends online, supporting each other through life and school. When we finally met in person, everything clicked. After that first meet-up, we confessed our feelings and became official shortly after. From virtual study sessions to real-life love, our story began with friendship first.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

One of our favorite memories is when we reunited for just 4 hours before Hugh had to return home. Despite the short time, Katrina traveled early in the morning to have breakfast and spend those last two hours at the station, hugging until his train arrived. After 10 months of friendship, moments like these made our relationship feel incredibly real, even in the smallest windows of time.

What would you do with $20,000?

As pre-med students in a long-distance relationship (UofT & McMaster), we’d use $20,000 to cover med school application fees and investments. Our goal is to move in together after undergrad to start med school side by side. This would ease financial stress and help us build a life—together—while pursuing our dream of becoming doctors.
