After being struck by a semi-truck in 2013 on the way to my first day of school as a teacher, my car was subsequently towed to the shop my (now husband) worked at. After some serious rehabilitation and healing, I was finally able to get my belongings from my totaled car and was greeted by Roger. The shop was about to close, and I was starving so I asked if there was a good place to eat near by. Roger offered to join me and we hit it off right away. Within a month, I knew he was the one.

We do everything together, but our favorite shared memory actually came out of the devastation we faced in the early days of the pandemic. We lived near the epicenter in Queens and the horrors of losing loved ones hit us early on. We decided we needed to get out of our tiny apt in NYC, so that summer we drove cross country to Montana and stopped at every state and national park on the way. Spending that much time together, exploring nature, & playing endless games of cribbage was incredible!

We would use a large portion of the funds to help support our close family member battling stage 4 cancer. We would also love to be able to upgrade my bike as I’m disabled and my current one makes it difficult to keep up. We are trying to bike the Empire State Trail together, but it’s slow going and exhausting with my current recumbent bike because the wheels are just too small. We want to spend as much quality time together for as long as possible and would love to enjoy biking again together.
