In 1981, during basic training when dating was forbidden, we defied the rules. Every Sunday we met at the base chapel, we held hands and secretly exchanged love notes. That Christmas leave, we shared a stolen New Year’s kiss. After graduation, we went our separate ways—until thirty-five years later when a message arrived with a cherished photograph: me in a white dress and him in his dress uniform, proof that true love endures.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?We pitched our tent on charming Lopez Island, Washington—its landscape of lush woodlands, gently rolling farmland, and serene bays felt unspoiled and peaceful. Just the two of us, we hiked scenic trails, breathed in the fresh air, and ended each day by a campfire under the stars. It was a beautifully simple time—just nature, each other, and a moment we'll always cherish.
What would you do with $20,000?We would embark on a cross-country journey, camping from state park to state park, creating cherished memories along the way.
