We were married on September 6,1975 both of us aged 19 years. We were told we would last six months. We will be 50 years this year!
We would like to thank you for supporting Joyce & Roger Stanton in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
I was in my last year of high school and was outside planting flowers for the landscaping class I was taking when Roger was driving past me standing there next to the road. I waved, he stopped, turned around and came back to talk to me. That is how we met. He got my phone number and began to call me. He also asked for my birth certificate because he thought I was not 18 years old. He thought I was 13 or 14 years old. I showed him my birth certificate and the rest is history.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? The birth of our first child. We were new parents two years after we were married and with all the excitement of our baby’s birth! We were just as excited with the birth of our next three children, the most exciting was the last with our daughters birth because we had a five percent chance of me having another child due to having a tubal reversal. After three sons she was such a surprise and a blessing that we were able to have another child. Our children are our best memories in our lives.
What would you do with $20,000?Maybe take a trip to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in September to the Grand Canyon and to California to see the Redwoods, places we have always wanted to go.
