We met in high school and started dating a week before he graduated. We were great friends before and were nervous to ruin it, but what we created together is even better. The night he asked me out, he picked me up and we got ice cream. What made the night even more special was he danced with me in the parking lot and taught me how to waltz. On the way home he asked if I “wanted to go steady with him,” which was so sweet and very John; he swept me off my feet on day one and together a lifetime.

There was one time I mentioned how I’d love to be proposed to in New Zealand in a lavender field. John took that bit of information and made it a mission to find a beautiful lavender field. We traveled to Boyne city for a weekend trip, where he took me on a beautiful lavender field tour, where we got to make lavender and wild flower bouquets. Afterwards, he took me to the lavender labyrinth and proposed, with a photographer hiding and capturing the moment. It felt like a fairytale, very magical.

John and I have always wanted to travel, this would give us a chance to live our dream. We would love to go to Europe for our honeymoon next year. We would also like to fix up our home and add some space for our brothers with autism to visit and feel at home if they spend the night. We both have brothers with autism, which really connected us, and want to have space at our place for them. They both enjoy Disney and we’d like to dedicate a space for them to enjoy.
