Our journey to becoming parents. We were married 17 years before birthing a child and started adopting other children. We now have five.
We would like to thank you for supporting Joel and Miriam in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We met through work as college students. Originally we were going to both attend a large group date with coworkers, all of whom were already paired off. I (Joel) had to work late that night and called her to apologize for not being able to make the event, but would she like to go out together alone afterward instead? Up until that point I wasn’t sure whether she was interested in me at all, but I figured the best way to find out was to go ahead and ask. The rest is history.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Probably when we went on vacation for a cruise on the Rhine. We got to do some wonderful sightseeing in parts of the world that our ancestors came from.
What would you do with $20,000?Probably at least one more dream vacation. We recently celebrated 20 years of marriage but weren’t able to do much because our household had the flu. We need a do-over for that special anniversary!
