Connect How did your love story begin?

We met at the corner bus stop. Our first date? A Happy Meal at McDonald’s. In high school, we taped love notes under a shared desk—3rd period him, 4th me. We spent college years apart, then she graduated early to be near him as he finished at the Naval Academy. We married young, had three kids close in age, and kept choosing each other—through every chapter, challenge, and change.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Raising our children—through moves, deployments, and everyday moments—has been our greatest joy. We’ve parented apart and together, anchored by faith and the kind of love described in Corinthians: patient, kind, enduring. From lullabies to graduations, we built a home on devotion and grace. That journey of growing a family is our most treasured memory.

What would you do with $20,000?

We’d set some aside to rest and refill—so we can keep pouring into others. We’ve devoted our lives to quiet service (community rooted) , creating spaces of healing, growth, and belonging. This gift would help us continue showing up—for our family, our community, and those who need a place to land. We’d use it to keep love in motion and kindness full circle.
