In 2016, Toby was at a gathering for Deaf and Hard of Hearing folks with a college friend. During the event, his college friend received a video call that would forever change Toby’s life. He didn’t know it at the time, but the girl on the other end of the call had seen Toby signing with a group of people and expressed interest in meeting up. The next day, Toby got a text that said, “My friend has a crush on you.” We met up at our mutual friend’s house and it was clear that we were meant to be.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Toby: Taking our son to DisneyWorld for our honeymoon. Jenna: Visiting the mountains of North Carolina for camping, tubing, white water rafting, and boating!
What would you do with $20,000?In 2023, Florida passed a law barring transgender identified educators from the classroom. As Toby is a special education teacher, we were forced to flee our newly bought home to a state that would allow Toby to continue teaching. Winning would allow us to help pay off some of the incredible financial burden that this event caused. (And maybe 20$ for Taco Bell).
