Connect How did your love story begin?

Jeff and I met when I needed a literary agent. We clicked, but I married someone else. He stayed my friend, mentored me, and we wrote books together. Years later, he had a health scare and called to say he was leaving me the business. That’s when I realized I loved him. When I divorced, he said, “What about us?” I said, “What do you mean?” He said, “I’m not letting you date this time.” And that was that.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

For eight years, we were long-distance friends and business partners, speaking often but only meeting in person once or twice a year. After deciding to be together, we met at a California airport for a conference. As we walked toward each other, it felt like slow motion. When we kissed, everything changed. That moment sealed the deal—we've been together ever since.

What would you do with $20,000?

We’d take a second honeymoon. Our first was chaotic—he moved in with my three kids from two exes, never having married or had children himself. He brought love and balance to our ready-made family, but we started mid-chapter. We’d use the time to reconnect and also visit our children and grandchildren, who are spread across the country.
