We perfectly balance each other. I steer the ship, he is the anchor. We have each other’s backs and still feel the spark after two decades.
You decide who wins $20,000 and appears in Variety magazine as America’s Favorite Couple
We met in a college course while studying to be science teachers. We were placed in the same group for an assignment. After the class was finished, he asked me if I wanted to hang out sometime. Our first date was the Shakespeare Festival in Forest Park. We’ve been inseparable ever since! We graduated together, taught in the same school together, and got married our first year as teachers.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Any time we’re listening to music or playing it together is the best time. We both love all kinds of music and that was a huge part of our bonding. Phil plays bass and I dabble with guitar and piano, and love to sing. We’ve seen so many concerts together and have many nights where we just hang out and listen to music. He always impresses me with his deep musical knowledge.
What would you do with $20,000?Thank Phil for taking care of me through two heart ablations and a hysterectomy. We never went on a proper honeymoon because we didn’t have the money as new teachers and we got married during the school year. We just pushed it back and never prioritized it. Then came starting a family. I would love to go on a really nice couples trip to have the honeymoon we never got.
