We met by wild chance at a dance club—two months after I punched Jason's best friend. Sparks flew. Despite Jason leaving for Okinawa, we chose love and a long-distance start. Jason returned, proposed, then left again for Panama. When he came back, we married. He served in the USMC, then 20 years in law enforcement, now a worship pastor. What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?One of our funniest memories: Just-married kids, barreling toward Camp Lejeune in a Penske truck, barely knowing each other. Suddenly, Jason spots the tire from the car we’re hauling flying across the median! We pull over, no tire in sight. Stranded, we get towed to a tiny auto shop and crash there overnight waiting for a part. Could’ve been a disaster, but we laughed through it. That runaway tire? Just the first of many bumps we’d conquer—together.
What would you do with $20,000?We didn’t choose high-paying careers—we chose ones of service that let us prioritize family. As a first-gen college grad and with Jason going straight into the military, we lacked the financial insight to save for our kids’ education. With $20,000, we’d ease that burden by helping pay for their college tuition. It would be a way to invest in their future, support their dreams, and give them something we wish we’d been better prepared for.
